Renewal of FSSAI License in India

There are three distinct types of FSSAI License Renewal based on the scale and turnover of the Food Business Operator (FBO):

1. Basic FSSAI License Renewal:

2. State FSSAI License Renewal:

   • FBOs with a turnover ranging from ₹12 Lakhs to ₹20 Crore fall under the State FSSAI license category.
   • The renewal fee for State FSSAI License is determined based on the eligibility criteria of the food business and the duration of the license's validity.

3. Central FSSAI License Renewal:

   • FBOs with a turnover exceeding Rs. 20 Crore are categorized under the Central FSSAI License.
   • It's mandatory for these FBOs to renew their Central FSSAI License before its expiration to maintain compliance and continue their operations legally.

2. Self-Attested Declaration: Include a self-attested declaration adhering to the regulations of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA).

3. Authority Inspection: Authorities may inspect the food business operations to ensure compliance with regulations.

4. Review and Inspection Report: Once inspections are complete, the authority will review the application and inspection report.

5. License Issuance: If all requirements are met, the FSSAI renewal license will be issued within approximately 60 days. If not issued within this timeframe, the business might continue operating without renewal.

Additional Requirements for FSSAI License Renewal:

1. Audit Report, FSMS Plan: Include an audit report, Food Safety Management System plan, and certificates or self-declarations regarding food safety compliance.

2. Form No. IX: File Form No. IX - Form for Nomination of Persons, as per the prescribed format.

3. Declaration by Authorized Signatory: A declaration signed by the authorized signatory affirming conformity to Food Safety and Standards Act, hygiene, and sanitary practices.

4. Compliance with Guidelines: Ensure compliance with Schedule 4 of the Registration and Licensing Regulation issued by FSSAI and subsequent rules issued by the authorized authority.
